About me
I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Network and Data Science of the Central European University, in Vienna, Austria. Since 2026, I am also an External Faculty member at the Complexity Science Hub. I hold a BSc and a MSc in Physics from the University of Padua and Bologna, respectively, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics for the Social Sciences from the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) of Paris. I carried out her postdoctoral training at the Rovira and Virgili University in Tarragona, Spain. I then spent over four years at the United Nations, first at UNICEF's Office of Innovation in New York and then at the UN World Food Programme in Rome. In my research, I draw on network science and machine learning tools, including natural language processing, to understand societal issues ranging from political polarization and misinformation engagement to racial and socioeconomic segregation. I am the local coordinator of the CIVICA Research Hub on "Scaling the European Polarization Observatory for the Study of Social Platforms and AI". I am an elected Senior Faculty Representative on CEU's Senate, and I serve on the Board of the Network Science Society and on the Executive Committee of the Complex Systems Society, having previously served as its Vice-President Secretary from 2018 to 2021. I am an Associate Editor of Applied Network Science and of Advances in Complex Systems. I have also served as Program Chair of the International School and Conference on Network Science (NetSci) in 2023 and have co-chaired NetSci-X in 2024. In 2024, I received the Complex Systems Society's Junior Scientific Award. |
